Web hosting

First, a brief discussion of how domain registration and web hosting work: Before anyone can find your website, you need to register a domain. You select a name that is not currently registered and register it with an Internet Registrar. Then you select a hosting company to host your mail and web pages. You tell the registrar where the web host is located and the registrar fixes it so that every time someone types www.mydomain.com into their browser they get to your page. The registrar does not host the web page, they only point people to the location where the page is hosted. VCC is a web hosting company, not a registrar.

Our basic web hosting service is an affordable $120 per year plus a one-time setup fee of $50. We will register a new domain for you as part of the setup fee. You can take care of your own domain registration renewal every year or have us do it. We charge $35 per year and you can get it much cheaper on your own. However, a couple of clients didn't respond in a timely fashion to the renewal notices and their domains expired. And when they tried to reestablish the domains, cybersquatters had hijacked the name and wanted more than $1,000 to turn it loose. It may be that having VCC renew for you is cheaper than doing it yourself, but it's your call.

The hosting fee also includes up to 20 email accounts per domain. Additional email accounts are avaiable for $25 per year for 20 email accounts.

Once you have set up your account with us, either you or we will need to point the world to your site. This is done by having the registrar set up the DNS record for the domain as follows:

Note: Most registrars no longer need the IP addresses (64.27.57.11 & 174.36.24.250) and just ask for the URL's (a.ns.zerigo.net and d.ns.zerigo.net).

After that, you'll need to upload the pages you have created to your site. We conduct classes in the evening to help you do this yourself, or we will create a site for you, for an additional charge.
